When gangster Eddie Kagle gets bumped off by his partner, his eternal soul gets sent to the underworld several floors below. The Devil, played superbly by Claude Rains(Casablanca, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Lawrence of Arabia)finds great potential in this new recruit and makes a deal with the petty crook in return for his freedom from the sulphuric steam bath! It seems that Eddie looks just like a judge whose noble deeds have gotten under Satan's skin. This dark comedy made shortly after World War II also stars Paul Muni(Scarface, I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang)and Academy Award winner Anne Baxter (Razor's Edge, Ten Commandments, All About Eve). In this third and final installment of the popular movie series, a fun-loving spirit once again torments the Topper household. This time it's Gail Richards, a beautiful young woman who was accidentally murdered while vacationing at the home of her wealthy friend, Ann Carrington, the intended victim. Topper and his chauffeur played by the hilarious Eddie "Rochester" Anderson(Jack Benny Show, Gone With The Wind, Stormy Weather) set out to find the killer with laugh out loud results! This ghostly movie also stars the talents of Roland Young in the title role, Billy Burke as his dim-witted but loveable wife and the vivacious Joan Blondell as the hauntingly beautiful Gail Richards.
